Bo Derek may well have been a Perfect Ten but this collection is a perfect EIGHT!
The brilliant, SPINETINGLER AWARD winning, opener Seven Days Of Rain and The Toll Collecters are stand-outs but EIGHT POUNDS is a perfect collection. And it has yet another great cover from John Hornor Jacobs.

As the cover says: 8 tales of crime, horror and suspense. And Chris Holm delivers in every one. It's a rare thing to come across a collection of short stories as solid as this one. From criminals hunting for the stash to ghosts awaiting to mete out long held retribution, every story, every line has not a word out of place. 8 Pounds is a lesson on how to write a short story. Perfect in every way. Ominous, scary, downright spooky. But perfect. And when you find out what the title of the book alludes to, well, then you know Mr Holm trawls some very dark places. But, thankfully, he comes out into the light and writes down his stories in a way that left this reader hanging on every word.

Highly recommended.

I think what I enjoyed most about Eight Pounds was the variety of the stories. There is a little bit of something for everyone in there. I enjoyed both the pace and style of the stories. Some were subtle and clever, whilst others were bolder, brasher and more in your face. If you like horror, noir or just a tale well told then there is something here for you. A talented writer whose works I shall follow with interest.

Chris F. Holm is simply a fine writer. His stories are mesmerizing, wonderful fun, wry and rueful, chilling, sad, ironic. Perfect for this season. Tell me a story. Man, does he ever.

Good short stories for dipping in and out of. Great reads for short journeys. Complete stories, independent of each other.

Not what it says on the ton. I didn't read all of them. Boring I try to find new authors in free or inexpensive books, and have found some very good new authors. Unfortunately this book is not one I could recommmend in any way.
