IN THE BEGINNING
on 15 April 2012
LAND OF CONFUSION/TONIGHT,TONIGHT TONIGHT(7.26).....Here is a pointless fact "Land of confusion"was the first CD single that Virgin issued, and it is the first track on this piece and it is rather good,it is totally de constructed and ,paired with tonight, tonight tonight with very atmospheric is an excellent start.
RIPPLES (9.47).....Begins with a wonderful slow piano movemet, then the rest of the orchestra subtely join in to bring out the full melody.
MAD MAD MOON/FANTASIA CONCERTANTE FOR VIOLIN AND ORCHESTRA.(16.42)..... is a Tony Banks composition, which i do not recall hearing at all before.another lengthy piece with some fine playing included, this is the nearest in feeling to Banks' current work, very moving indeed.
FOLLOW YOU FOLLOW ME(6.49)..... again a basic improvisation brings in the very English sounding Orchestra, with an tangtbly rural sounding hit single
FADING LIGHTS(12.13)..... i am beginning to have a problem with all the tracks being played at the same tempo, however this is a small point,as this like the rest of the album this is relaxing and pleasant,it has slight intonations of Mike Oldfields early work, with "Hergest Ridge "coming to mind.
ENTANGLED(7.16) again a piano based interpretation
UNDERTOW/BLOOD ON THE ROOFTOPS(12.45).....gets the full orchestral treatment, and rounds off the album.
I am not particularly sure who this album is aimed at,it will not appeal to diehard Genesis fans, for it is too formal and regimented,i do not think it will appeal to Classical Fans,it is too ordinary, however,to the curious it is worth investigating
