This would be a great cd for someone who doesn't own some or all of Brandy's awesome cd's. I already do, so I recommend it highly even though I not sure about purchasing it. She's made a huge impact since her grammy winning best new artist cd titled "Brandy" - she just keeps getting better. "Full Moon" was a magnificent love cd, then wow, the break-up cd "afrodesiac" tells the truth about everything, and is amazingly diverse, but fits together perfectly. I cant wait for the next cd.
I love Brandys Music, and have been a hardcore fan ever since 'The Boy Is Mine' was released- this is an essential album for any Brandy fan, as it features all her singles (and there is a lot of them!)and some good remixes. the only thing i would change is the fact that the innalay is rubbish, it is basically printed cheapley and is the kind of thing you may expect to find in a poundland release!- not a greatest hits album- Considering the laughable Mis Teeq have released a 'Greatest Hits' after just two albums (both flopped) and the innalay in that is far superior, it makes you wonder why brandy's record label havent gone all-out on it. otherwise this CD is great, please buy it.
I was really excited when i bought this album, as i've always liked Brandy, and always thought her r'n'b beats were über cool especially with the Bitchy duet "The Boy Is Mine" and the crammed in beats of "What About Us", so i bought it the first day it came out, having high expectations, and it wasn't that i was disappointed, more of the fact, there are a lot of slowish ones that u start to find u skip over repeatedly, to get over from "Afrodisiac" to "Full Moon remix". It's not that i don't like exploring new teritories, but they just seem like too slow and too similar, but the tracks u do no are absolutely brilliant...faultless.
I have only given this best of 4 stars purely due to the fact that one of my favourte Brandy songs, 'I wanna be Down' is not the original version, but the remixed version. This is really the only gripe I have. Considering the original version was what made me notice Brandy all those years ago I was hoping that this would be the version on here, but alas not. I am not saying the remix is bad but it is just so inferior to the original. I would even have thought that they would have put the original version as a bonus maybe...wishful thinking!
I will just have to buy the first album again (damn where did my original copy go grrrr!!).
However, with that aside, the album is very enjoyable spanning through Brandy's albums, showcasing some great tracks which does make for a satisfying listen. She probably isn't as well known in the UK but still has a strong following.
I would not say I am a die-hard fan - I did have her first album when she released it back in the early 90's but for whatever reason did not totally follow her music career from then on. But after looking at cd's on here this cd come to my attention and the rest is history.
brandy broke through in Britain with the massive hit The Boy Is Mine (Featuring Monica) back in June 1998! Since then she has established herself as one of the most successful R'n'B stars having had 8 other top 15 hits since! Their are so many stand out tracks on this album such as The Boy Is Mine, Top Of The World, What About Us, Talk About Our Love, Afrodisiac and the brilliant cover of Phil Collins classic Another Day In Paradise. What more can I SAY BUT BUY IT! 4/5 one of the best greatest hits that will be realeased this year!!!
