What a truly fantastic album this is. I got a copy after hearing Radio 1 DJ Gilles Peterson rave about it on his show.
I've always loved Brazilian music but it's always hard to know where to start with such a vast country. This album has everything that is modern and fresh in Brazil - hiphop, electro, indie, samba. Its a great introduction to Brazil in 2010 and beyond.
A sure contender for album of the year. Already looking forward to Mais Um Gringo's next compilation.
Very diverse, highs and lows but many nuggets in the matrix of always interesting new music from the land of samba. I much preferred the most brazilian rooted stuff - the more western rock inspired tracks didn't interest me. Well worth getting for the rich rhythm soaked fruits in the mix and the orange water delights of those silky smooth toned female singers on some tracks. (Yeah, bit over the top, I know)
This is a wonderful compilation of all the different aspects of Brazilian Music. It is a vast country and what a great idea to have a map of the areas covered musically. This has to be one of the if not the best compilation of Brazilian music as it captures so many styles and variety of artists.A great piece of work that is a must for all Brazillian music fans. I just love it!
