I am a new user of Slow Cookers, but I have found my initial two experiences of this product a great success. I've cooked two of the few receipes that they include in the manual and the family have loved them.
I bought a book at the same time and I'm looking forwards to cooking more delicious meals in this product.
The pot is suitable to cook for 6-8, I'd say, you need to sear the meat and then transfer to the pot - but I believe this is standard for most Slow Cookers(?). There are three heating levels - I've used the high setting so far, to cook the food in 4-5 hours and then reduced it to low to keep warm until eating a few hours later - there is also an auto setting that will cook the same meal in 8-10 hours, in case you want this to cook while you are out. I'll get to this auto setting, now I'm more confident - initially I wanted to watch it cook!
Would recommend this so far - good sturdy and more-expensive-than-it-looks type of product. According to my energy recorder it is 3 pence per hour on high and 2 pence per hour on low, so not too bad - the 16p I spend on my Beef In Red Wine was well spent :-)
