For me this is the second best single by Oasis (second to the amazing "Live Forever") The song shows what Oasis are all about: pure rock and roll! the b-sides arent that bad aswell "Take me away" is a great acoustic song,"I will belive" is an avarge oasis b-side and "Columbia (demo)" is breathtaking for me this is better than the album version of this song. Anyway buy "Supersonic" or any other Oasis cd!

From the pounding drums, the sound of what sounds like a glass bottle rolling, the opening riff and Liam Gallaghers youthful snarl of "I need to be myself/I can't be no one else" Oasis announce themselves on the world as they mean to go on.
Supersonic remains one of Oasis' greatest ever songs over 10 years on because it truly sums up what they're about in the greatest way possible. The arrogance, the simplicity, the wall of sound, the simple but incredibly well suited guitar riff and the lyrics that make no sense whatsoever build this up to be one of Oasis' finest moments. Oasis never sounded so fresh or aggressive ever again.
In complete contrast is the tender "Take Me Away" a nice little tune that was made for B-side status, I Will Believe with the band doing their best Stone Roses impression and an early take of Columbia which was to later appear in a much more dense and trippy fashion on their debut LP "Definitely Maybe. The basis of a great song is there though.
However with the A-Side Oasis grab you by the throat immediatly and demand attention, not since "Anarchy In The UK" we had heard something as immediate as this.

One of Oasis's Best songs without a doubt. Oasis at there best.Does Rock music get any better than this?. A pounding beat, an excellent guitar performance by Noel and excellent Vocals by Liam. It sounds even better live so check out OASIS "Familar To Millions"

For a band taking over the reigns from The Stone Roses, Oasis have come out shining with this their debut single. Packed with three strong b-sides Supersonic is the sign of a band with a great future ahead of them. Of the b-sides Noel's vocal on Take Me Away promises to be a great addition to this Manchester bands set-up. More of Noel singing on these kind of songs and then let the younger brother Liamize the good songs to make them great songs. Supersonic has that certain swagger, it has Oasis propelling theirselves into somewhere they'd like to be. Brothers Noel and Liam will be the bond that makes Oasis stand out from the indie crowd. They are taking on from where The Beatles, Slade and the Stones left off. If the album is as good as Supersonic then Oasis will be the stars of their generation. Any generation. They are about to have the world at their feet. Maybe, just maybe.
As far as debuts go, this single is perfect. Many great years should be ahead for Britain's latest and most promising guitar band.

the lyrics may make no sense, but the swagger of this song makes it one of their best. Favourite line:'You can have it all but how much do you want it ?'the studio recording is average at best but if you have ever been to an Oasis gig, you know this song is brillantly played live. Check out familar to millions for the totally rocking version of SUPERSONIC !

Oasis, biggest band in the world, kick started their success with Supersonic, a massive favourite amongst fans. The drums - basic but essential, guitars - simple but influential, guitar solo - electrifying! lyrics and vocals - Liam style!
