It's album number five for French metal band Lyzanxia, and their days of death metal are now long, long gone, as they bash on in thrash metal mode. Built around the brothers Potvin (David on guitar/vocals and Franck, also on guitar), they've moved a long way since their early outings, as they head more into the world of mainstream metal with each release.

There is still the odd hint of melodic death metal, but they're aiming more for fat, mid-paced riffs rhese days, and have even dipped into the world of synthesisers on certain tunes, something that will come as no surprise to folks who've heard their other band, the industrial minded One Way Mirror. The main vocals are fairly confrontional in style, which seems a bit at odds with the stronger focus on melodies and choruses, but for the time being it still works.

As befits a band who've been on the go for over a decade, the musicianship is good, and when they manage to mash up all their influences just right, as they do on 'Parasitic Growth', 'Father Ra' and 'Sub Hero Zero', then it's definitely a metal sound well worth hearing.
