Eight 'Elite Warriors are unexplainably brought together on an alien planet with no idea how they got there., however
they will soon learn that they are 'prey' to be hunted down by a merciless 'Alien Race' known as 'Predators'
A tense and often gory battle of survival against the skills of the Alien beings.
Among the cast list - 'Adrien Brody' as 'Royce' 'Topher Grace' as 'Edwin' 'Alice Braga' as 'Isbelle' 'Laurence Fishburne' as
'Noland' and 'Danny Trejo' as 'Cuchillo'
When released there were many negative reviews about the film, however if you've seen the others you know what to expect,
For me it does manage to bring back much of the flavour of the 'Arnie' film, when we were first introduced to the species that are 'Predators' (Of course that was a classic movie)
i enjoyed this myself.

After the somewhat abysmal Alien vs. Predator Requiem, the Predator series was badly in need of a reboot if it was to continue. And I felt that it should continuum because AVPR was such a sour note to leave a once great series on. Robert Rodriguez took on the challenge, and has produced a film that doesn't achieve the greatness of the first two films, but is a lot better than AVPR and a worthy addition to the series.

A miscellany of humans, chosen seemingly for their killing prowess, find themselves transported to a strange jungle. It slowly dawns on them that they are being hunted, but by what? Slowly they put the pieces together and, inevitably, come up with a plan to fight back.

It's an OK film. It's a good premise, with the predators plonking the humans into their own game reserve. It manages to have some continuity with the original predator, but is self contained and can be easily understood by people who haven't seen the previous films. The tension is nicely built up in the first half of the film, with some nice set pieces as the group find out about each other and the situation they are in. But then it all starts to go a bit tepid. Here, as the title implies, there are lots of predators. In the original films there was only one, and it seemed a real threat. Here, there are many and they seem to be killed off rather easily, and seem less of an actual threat to our heroes. So the big fights and action scenes lose some of their edge for my taste. It's well staged, and has a decent ending that leaves things open for a possible sequel, but it just isn't quite in the same league as the first two films. So only 3 stars - it's watchable, but no classic.

Predators is an excellent movie that includes the same music as was in predator and Predator 2. It is different to predator where humans were abducted and dropped on a hunting planet rather than predator coming to earth to hunt. I would definitely recommend this movie to anyone.

While not as good as the original Arnold Schwarzennagger classic, Predators is at least as entertaining as the underrated Predator 2 and banishes all memory of the truly dire Alien vs Predator: Requiem, which was one of the worst films i have ever seen, and single handedly destroyed two of the greatest sci fi franchises of all time, the Alien and Predator movies. Predators while no classic is an entertaining and enjoyable sci fi action film with a good cast. Adrien Brody is good in the lead and is the standout. You can tell that producer Robert Rodriguez and director Nimrod Antel are fans of the original as there are a lot of homages. It's not the best action film ever, but if you're after an entertaining action film then there are a lot worse out there.

Chosen for their ability to kill without conscience, a group of killers, some trained and some who are not, must endeavour the alien race of predators that have set out to target them as prey.

Dropped into the vast jungle of a distant world, these human predators must learn just who, or what, they are up against, and that their ability, knowledge and wits are tested to the limits in the battle of survival of kill or be killed....

Finally after nearly twenty years and two very suspect Vs movies, we get Predator back to it's basic premise, hunt in the jungle. Only this time there isn't a General Hopper to save and there are more Predators, and the group do not know each other.

From the start, none of the characters are likable, not one. We get no insight to there background or any real history from them, we are just thrown straight into the jungle.

And then the fun begins. Like the original, we are flirted with glimpses of the Predator very early on and we get his heat vision every now and again.

But when the movie lets rip, it lets rip and it never let's up until the end.

My only problem with the film is that the director obviously researched the original too much.

First off, we have two characters who have Billys traits from the original. One looks into the jungle scared, and the other guy rips off Billys death straight from the original.

then we have one character tell another the whole plot from the first movie, just in case their are a few people in the audience who haven't seen it.

Fishbourne has a wasted extended cameo in the middle. All he does is explain to the cast the plot of the film, and act a little mad. It's pointless.

But other than that, this is an amazing sequel, and it really makes you forget the AvP movies. There has been a lot of love and time and effort put into this film, and it looks as if Rodriguez knows what the fans want.

It's a typical action movie, not much talking apart from people having a go at each other, and typical characters whose deaths you can see coming from a mile off.

Highly recommended

Predators was a film much more in the spirit of the original than the awful AVP films. It wasn't as good as Predator 2 (which in my opinion is a pretty good film, and I have no idea why it gets so much flak) but it wasn't far behind it, and in many ways it felt like more of a Predator film than the original sequel starring Danny Glover.

This is mainly due to the fact that Predators takes the idea back to it roots, basing the story in the Jungle, with a group of men being hunted. This time, by a small team of Predators. But I also think it's hugely to do with the fact that this script was actually written before all the other AVP films, but for some reason never got made, with the movie moguls choosing to take the franchise in the other (and frankly terrible) direction.

This film evolves the world of the Predator films for us nicely, introducing us to new beasts from the universe and new parts of their culture - in fact we even learn that there are a whole different race of Predators to the ones we've seen before. The special effects are excellent, as you'd expect, and I'm glad to say that there seems to be a distinct absence of over the top CGI, with real life props, make-up and sets being the preferred option.

Shot on location in Hawaii, and just outside texas, the landscape looks stunningly beautiful but eerily alien too. All in all Predators was a fairly decent watch and the only thing letting it down was the weak character development in the film. You just never got to feel for any of them like you did Arnie (or should I say Dutch?) and his platoon of men from the original film. I also didn't like the led guy too much if I'm being honest.

But perhaps it's unfair to keep comparing this sequel to the first film? I mean it was never going to be better than that - especially when you always view the original through rose tinted spectacle (as opposed to an infra red heat sensing helmet) and I guess all we should really be hoping for is that it wasn't as dire as AVP requiem, and a little better than AVP. In the end it manages to be much better than both combined (perhaps not hard) and is actually a film you can watch along side the original quite happily.

7.5 or 8 out of 10 overall from me. A worthy effort that gets the Predator franchise back on track.

I loved the original Predator, hated the second one and the two crossovers with the Alien franchise. This movie however is a refreshing action/horror that brings the Predator universe back to its roots (kinda) with a group of heavily armed people who are all from combat/violent occupations who wake up on an alien world which turns out to be a hunting preserve for the Predators. Already, this is far superior to Predator 2 and the poor crossover movies, and things only get better as conflicts rise between the abducted victims, even before they learn of the Predators and the alien creatures that are also on the planet with them.

This is a good movie, it has the same dramatic tension of the original Predator movie, plenty of violence, gore and action and the actors are well cast. If you liked the original movie and hated the crossovers with Aliens, this is definitely worth a look.

After the awful Aliens V Predator movies, Predators is a welcome return to form. This story revolves around a group of ruthless soldiers and mercenaries from around the world and unknown to each other, who have been kidnapped and air dropped in a vast forest. They must band together when they discover that they have been taken there to be hunted by the Predators. There is more to it than that, but I don't want to spoil the plot. Great action film.

You know when your promised something that doesn't deliver. I hate it when they have quick clips, or that one 'particular' clip that's in the trailer that wasn't in the movie. In this case I'm referring to the clip where Royce has all those red Predator cannons aimed at his head and chest. I was waiting for that part which never came.
They never got surrounded by a load of predators. The only one Predator in the whole movie thing has been done in 2 movies, the original being the best one to watch. But with this one, you'd expect a whole large bunch of at least 2 different types of predators in the movie on the screen at the same time for a good amount of time, not 3 spread out and seeing only 2 on screen at the most. It's a planet for the Predators to hunt other species so bring on more.
The story was more structured, they are just trying to escape the planet, but if your calling a movie 'Predators' a title which would give the impression there will be a load of predators in some scenes. Otherwise you may as well just call it 'the few predators'.
I'm glad I didn't watch this at the cinema. And one last thing.......The gruff voiced, dark moody attitude character does not suit Adrian Broody and quite frankly wasn't needed at all. Arnold's character was far better as a leader and it didn't feel overdone.

The first predator is good because there were many many coincidences and troubles that turned
out to be good for the film.

First the predator supposed to be visible as following the scenario still special effect guys managed to
screw this up and it ended up transparent. This turned out to be the key feature of all the story.

Second as I noticed they allowed actors to add a little one liners like the one
about echo.

Predators is also very good movie but it need a little more editing to be done.
Some parts should be longer and some parts should be shorter.
