As the previous reviewer has already stated: Magnum's 25th Anniversary Expanded Edition of On A Storyteller's Night offers nothing new to the set released in 2005. However, the sleeve notes state: Remastered 2010 by Andy Pearce. Although the audiophiles out there will have to compare this to the 2005 mastering for any differences, but to my ears, there isn't much difference at all. It's nice to see the album in deluxe digipack packaging in line with Universal's Deluxe Edition series as the album really put Magnum on the map.

The demos and interview on Disc 2 offer quite a complete listening experience, however there are a few alternate recordings, b-sides and remixes that could have been added to the album to really round off the package. It seems silly not to have included them. I think if Universal dug a little deeper they could have expanded this package to offer something new, such as a DVD of Magnum's 1985 show at the Camden Palace in London (released as Sacred Hour on VHS) -- or even the audio recording of that show on a 3rd CD. As it stands it's a decent package -- but a package that everyone bought five years ago.

Also much praise has been said of Rodney Matthews' album sleeve, so it's dissappointing not to see the original artwork that was used for the original vinyl release in 1985.

So this is a pointless release since the 2005 release is probably under £5.b It's hard to understand why Universal/Sanctuary decided to release this at all. Don't Universal own Polydor and Sanctuary? Does that mean we'll see deluxe editions of Vigilante, Wings of Heaven, Goodnight L.A. and The Spirit? I hope so!
