Works perfect on Windows 10
on 12 August 2015
Using Windows 10 Home 64bit, I plugged the device into a USB2.0 slot, and Windows automatically installed the drivers, I did not need to use the
supplied mini CD. The Drivers that Windows 10 installed were from Media Tek Inc, v188.8.131.52 dated 06/06/2014, signed by Microsoft.
This process took about 5 minutes, and then I was prompted to reboot. Once rebooted, within the system tray, a WIFI icon appeared (where there used to be the disconnected network card icon). Left clicking on that displayed all the usual WIFI connections I'm used to seeing. I selected my connection, ticked on the [connect automatically] check box, then clicked [Connect]. I was prompted to enter my security password, but you get the choice to also use the WPS button on the router.
Once connected, the internet was up and running, woohoo.
Doing a speed test on a 50Mb connection, I averaged at 43Mb/s. On a wired connection I was getting 55Mb/s, so a drop in connection speed. However, its a loss I can live with, as am no longer having to drag a 15m network cable from the router to the PC :)
Love this little gizmo !
Note : For laptop users, in Device Manager, there is a Power Management tab which enables the PC to turn off the dongle to save power.
