Product excellent, but not despatched as pictured (not necessarily a bad thing!)
on 16 June 2011
Received this product today and promptly put it to use on my allotment, where it did exactly what it says on the item description ie. connected bamboo poles of various widths to enable me (after throwing over a suitable net) to construct a brassica cage in about 1 1/2 hours from scratch (including removing previous, inadequately spacious, netting).
I have no idea currently if the netting will exclude pests adequately, but that is not the point - the frame connectors are sold as a solution to creating frameworks, not as a pest deterrent in themselves, and as framework builders they are very good, I was able to form assorted bamboo poles (all 4' long but of various diameters) into a usable cage framework very quickly.
Other devices for connecting poles are out there, but the Figo product is genuinely adaptable to pole diameters from the skinny (6mm or so) to the sturdy (1cm perhaps the maximum, unless you use some form of lubricant, which I didn't).
If the rabbits get in it won't be Figo's fault but that of the netting manufacturer! But hopefully that won't happen.
Just a word about the supplier and packaging: the item home page depicts a boxed product. The product arrived with me minus box, but including all the required elements ie. the number of connectors I'd ordered. This probably enabled the supplier to reduce shipping costs, and was not a problem for me (after all I'm not going to use a cardboard box to erect a pest deterrent cage, but rather its contents). However if you order this item from this supplier it is probably as well to be aware that they will not necessarily supply it in the packaging you see on this site.
