The 1st episode leaves you hugging the cushions for support as the team of Gibbs, Tony, Ziva, and McGee is broken up, but fret not - the hunt for a mole in NCIS brings them back together again.

It is amazing how this great series just gets better and better - and how the stories are persistently excellent. We know the characters as well as the characters know eachother, and there are still surprises - many in fact.

---- SPOILER ALERT ----

This is the season where Director Vance is introduced, where NCIS' friendly relationship with MOSSAD goes sour, where Gibbs and Tony go to Arizona, (cue horses), where Abby is hijacked by the FBI, where Ducky is accused of war crimes, where Gibbs and McGee go to L.A. (tie in NCIS LA), where Gibbs finishes the boat in his basement (sic!!) and Tony and Ziva go head to head.

I can't wait for the next season. :-)

Louise.

Picture a British police procedural, that is a TV programme centred around a group of detectives solving serious crimes. Got it? What you have in your head is a group of dour depressives who hate their jobs, each other, and probably themselves. They all have ghastly back stories that will dominate at least half the series, in between solving the increasingly appalling crimes that reveal only the worst of human nature.

Then you have have NCIS, and several other US shows I could name but this is just about the best. In this the characters are depicted as reasonably cheerful, reacting to their dealing with humanity at its worst with just the right mix of black humour and empathy. They have back stories that are never allowed to dominate, even though they are quite interesting, and in several cases more funny than dark. The crimes themselves are serious, but they vary between the relatively ordinary, domestic violence for example, and high-powered espionage. So, the series remains grounded, and doesn't try to outdo itself from episode to episode in sheer horror. In fact, often the better aspects of humanity are revealed as well.

Which is more realistic? Which is more watchable? Clearly it is NCIS and similar over any UK equivalent. Most real policemen and those that support them are actually quite cheerful people who react to their jobs with a degree of black humour, because if they didn't then they couldn't cope. Depressives who wallow in the horror of their situation would end up leaving for another line of work, or would be fired, or would be dragged off by the men in the white coats after they tried to take a statement from the office coffee machine. Who the hell wants to watch a bunch of unhappy people moaning anyway? Well, not me. I don't watch Eastenders either.

This is a classic NCIS season in a show that is now up to number 8 and which has maintained its audience figures throughout. In fact it has built on them and is now the most watched of such shows in the US. When you consider the excellent CSI and its spinoffs that is saying something. I won't repeat the other comments, suffice to say that NCIS is fantastic and if you like cop shows you won't be disappointed.

Just remember to feed your pets amid your orgy of Gibbs and co.

This is a very good show, well acted and well scripted, and very funny at times. It is a crime show with a difference, as it is based on the navel criminal investigative service, of the US Navy, and was a spin off of the popular JAG show that was on in the 90s.
A spinoff series of this one is, NCIS,LA. staring of all people LL,Cool J. A show which is bang upto date, and just as great.
Both shows are still running on TV at the moment, a testament to just how popular these 2 shows are to the Viewing Public, Enjoy.

This is simply the best show on TV. What a great season. Mark Harmon as Gibbs is fabulous. Favourite character overal is DiNozzo. Twenty-five brilliant episodes, so well written and well acted. You will not be disappointed, I certainly wasn't.

The extras/specials are good fun. Want subtitles? Search for 'closed caption' info.

I'm already looking forward to season seven!

Alway love this series, nothing can beats this original...the cast is great....still wish Kate's alive and bantering with Tony :(
Anyway, the team works as long as Gibbs, Tony, Abbey and McGee still together. As for this episode, it's good to gain some insight into Gibbs past and the merge of the LA team was well done.....you could say that you're watching NCIS (original) or NCIS LA :)

I ordered it recently (I had to send it back - Faulty), seen this on TV, and I almost never miss an episode when it's shown - the action, storylines and humour : and all the series have those three traits. With 23 million viewers in the States alone - that fact says it all, customers searching for a brilliant TV series that almost never fails to entertain - this is unmissable!.

Another gem in the diamond that is the NCIS Series.

What can I say that I haven't already said?

I love NCIS, love Dinozzo, Ziva, Abby and Ducky (but, especially, the gorgeous Gibbs, aka Mark Harmon).

I can (and, sometimes do,), watch this show over-and-over again.

It is my favourite show on TV and, I believe, will be so for many years to come.

GO TEAM GIBBS....

Brilliant, Fantastic, excellent, fabulous - my wife's words as you can see she is a fanatic on the subject and adores the programme, she has the full set almost and I purchase the next season for her regularly. In her words the show is well written, well acted and simply one of the best programmes in a long time. The cast are all outstanding and deserve the acclaim.

Love NCIS, and at Amazon, the prize just is the best!
And it even gets delievered so fast, even though I live in Denmark.
Got it like 3-5 days after ordering, not really sure, but nevertheless, it is the same as if ordered by danish distributors, who are more expensive.
