Is'nt it a shame that when people think of Ashford and Simpson they probably come up with "Solid" rather than "It Seems to Hang On", "Don't Cost You Nothing", Diana Ross' debut album or the superb album "The Boss", eternally brilliant songs recorded by Marvin Gaye & Terri Terrell - or this superb album recorded with Gladys Knight & The Pips?

Inexplicable why "Taste of Bitter Love" and "Bourgie Bourgie" were not much bigger hits than they actually were.

This is a hugely appealing album with excellently re-mastered sound. Great to have the edited 7" single versions - particularly "Taste of Bitter Love" which is so punchy in this slightly reduced format.

Top release for people who like classic soul music!

I have been waiting for this album to be released on CD for ages. This is one of my favourite albums of all time, a collaboration between 2 of my all time favourite artists- Ashford and Simpson and Gladys Knight. Written and produced by Ashford & Simpson, it is pure class and real soul. The album starts off with the classic Landlord which is a mid tempo stunning track, followed by Taste of Bitter Love, which is a real classic. Gladys's soulful strong voice really shines with "Still such a thing". Side 1 ends with the up tempo "Get The Love" which is so typical of A&S -strong melody and soulful. The original side 2 opens with a great ballad "Add It Up, followed by another smooth and melodic song "Friendly Persuasion". Next up is the vocal version of A&S's classic instrumental "Bourgie Bourgie", which highlights the magic of the interaction between Gladys and the backing vocals of the pips. The album closes with "We need hearts" which is the funkiest track, yet with a great melodic hook.

Every track on this album is great - both Gladys Knight & the pips performance and A&S writing and production at their best. It is simply a timeless piece of music.

Gladys Knight & the pips produced 4 great albums in the early 80s - About Love, Touch, Visions and Life. The first 3 have all been released again on CD-I hope that "Life" gets a release too!

Big Break Records has done it again with this exceptional CD by Gladys and her delightful Pips. The sound quality and booklet are as exciting as the music - a trade mark of Big Break Record reissues. I have fallen in love with this album all over again - this is Gladys Knight at her best. Thank you Big Break. I strongly recommend this CD to all lovers of high quality soul and dance music.

This is a fantastic album, and I'm delighted to see it finally out on CD.

If the record company are reading this, can I make a request? How about putting out another Gladys Knight and the Pips album, "Life", which has also never been available on CD, and is even better than this one!

After a very successful period at Buddah Records in the seventies Gladys Knight and the Pips signed to CBS Records in 1980.
About Love was their first album for them. Produced by Nick Ashford and Valerie Simpson who also wrote all of the songs the album was their most successful since the 1974 album I Feel A Song.
The album reached number 5 on the R&B chart.
There were two singles released. Landlord reached number 3 on the R&B singles chart and Taste Of Bitter Love reached number 38.
This expanded version of the album was released in 2010.
This album is a great return to form by the group and an essential purchase for fans.

At last, at last, at last....... long overdue release on CD putting together one of the great soul voices with two of the greatest writers and producers. There is not a single filler track on this album, it starts off brilliantly and just keeps on going. Il be counting the days until it falls through the letter box!!!!!
