A pumped up 'The Rock' stars in this more 'adult' action movie. Unfortunately, if not predictably, it is a run of the mill, typical revenge action box ticker, that takes itself far too seriously.

Ambitious and style desperation camera angles (and music) fail to impress, as does a terrible Billy Bob, Oliver Jackson-Cohen, and a one dimensional Dwayne Johnson (and support cast). The story is stupid, the action nothing special and the film overall is a poor mish mash that fails to take a grip. Watch 'Walking Tall' or Drive Angry instead, as this is painful.

Plot - after 10 years in prison, following a botched bank job, a man seeks revenge for his brothers murder.

The film also shamefully cameo stars Dexter's Debra Morgan, Oz's Adabesi, Tom Berenger and Mike Epps.

An entertaining but forgettable film. No staying power.

I'm pretty surprised at how many of the reviews for this claptrap film are so positive.

The storyline is clichéd and doesn't make sense. The Rock plays the enigmatic Driver, the viewer presumably saying "Oh wow, we don't know his name... how mysterious". This is as deep as it gets. Driver is an armed robber, and murderer. This is the lead protagonist we're supposed to empathise with throughout.

He's released from jail, bent on revenge. This, he suitably dispatches over the course of a boring hour and a half. The "action" is straightforward and not particularly thrilling. The narrative revelations, twists and turns are about as complex as those in "Spot's First Picnic" (spoiler: he has a picnic).

If you like the Rock, muscleheads and one-liners (bad ones) and... well, don't care about a storyline that makes sense, dialogue, suspense, excitement, well-considered action, and cinematography, then this is for you. Pop brain, pop some corn and pop it on the DVD.

If you would prefer the second list above, try Drive: spectacularly violent, brooding, beautifully shot, amazing soundtrack by Cliff Martinez.

Very predictable film from beginning and nothing new here. Lots of killings and thats stops the boredom creeping in but even this gets boring. Still its ok for a rainy afternoon.
