On balance, it's ok
on 29 November 2015
My kids enjoy listening to these inane/puerile songs about science, and they are probably learning some things from it (most notably, about elements and what a palaeontologist is), but here are my two big issues: first, their first song about "science is real" classifies angels along with unicorns and elves as the opposite of science, and as someone with a strong Christian faith who has experienced angels herself (not in a weird or whacky way, honestly), and with a strong science background (a discipline with many Christians at its highest levels) I take umbrage at classifying angels as unreal myths. Second, they have two songs back to back about the sun, one of which sings all about the sun as a gas, and then the next song, says it's a "miasma of incandescent plasma" and some of the lyrics are that they "got it wrong" in the other song when they called it a gas.
So, the jury is really on the fence about this one.
