On the face of it, the Samson S Monitor is an answer to a prayer. It allows you to mix a general monitor mix with your vocal input so that you can have your own vocals at a level that suits you against the rest of the band. As a drummer doing backing vox it's a godsend! Until, that is, you turn the volume pots up far enough to hear anything. The monitor feed sounds fine, but the internal pre amp that manages the vox is pants with a capital P, meaning that while you can hear yourself, you won't be able to tell your voice from that of the Dalek in your head. It doesn't effect the out front sound, so if you can live with the cybervoice in your ears, then it is cheap and relatively cheerful, but if you are looking for quality, look somewhere else!
