Nazareth had hit the highs with Razamanaz, but they'd cement their quality with Hair of the Dog. Just the artwork alone, something you'd see on a heavy metal release of the 80's, says that the band mean business. Leading off with the title song there's no messing about. A crushing riff leads a song that is now a staple for the band live. Heavy songs like 'beggars day' and 'miss misery' are Nazareth at their best, belting vocals and a rock groove. Whats best is that the anniversary release of this album now includes the additional tracks like 'railroad boy' and 'holly roller' but also has new tracks 'road ladies' (frank zappa cover) and 'this flight tonight' (joni mitchell cover).
This is my second favourite Nazareth album, behind Razamanaz, and its been a staple of my album collection for ages now. If your new to this band then get this album.
