Practical and attractive
on 1 February 2013
I like this pyramid-style kettle a lot: it's robust-feeling, an attractive design and together with the matching toaster looks very smart in our kitchen. The 360 degree base is handy - making it easy for both left- and right-handed people to use without descending into a war over kettle orientation. The water level indicator isn't the easiest to read as it's quite dark and doesn't stand out especially well against the shiny grey-black of the kettle's walls, however the position of the guide is well thought-out. Having this along the back of the kettle is neat and equally useful for left- and right-handers. The cable length is adjustable, as you can wind part of the lead around the inside of the base if a shorter length of flex is required. The kettle boils quickly, though is a little noisier than our old Breville model.
To date, the only problem we've experienced with this is that the handle for the lid (which is made of metal, with a rubber ring around the inside) can get quite hot.
Before buying I'd noticed a few complaints about longevity amongst the reviews on here - with some people's kettles developing faults within a time frame of significantly less than two years. It therefore seems worth noting that (as long as you register with Morphy Richards within 28 days) there is an extended manufacturer's warranty covering this product for 2 years from purchase.
