A good selection of Bluegrass Standards and certainly a good place to start listening to the genre! Some of the greats amongst the players - particularly Flatt & Scruggs, The Stanley Brothers and, not least, Bill Monroe and the Bluegrass Boys.

Right from the opening notes of "Foggy Mountain Breakdown" through to "T For Texas" this album gets your feet tapping, and just doesn't let go. Containing tracks by such Bluegrass legends as Bill Monroe, Flatt and Scruggs, Sonny Osborne and The Stanley brothers, this is good old fashioned down home Bluegrass. Most of the tracks are from the 1950's and 60's, and many of them i haven't heard for a long time. A real pleasure to listen to, over and over again.

The compilation is great, but..... The quality of the original recordings has been retained, as a consequence the CD's tracks are noisy and scratchy. With a bit of care and a good engineer this could have been much, much better....As a historic overview it is palatable, hence the three stars.
