Cheep packaging and bad sound.
25 August 2018
It was a very sad day when we lost the great Queen of soul. Etta James was known as the Queen of soul before Aretha. Anyway, here we have another of those 5 albums on C.D. for about £10. Sounds and looks too good to be true, why buy these albums when you can get them one at a time on C.D.?
Well, what you get here is 5 albums each on their own C.D. in cheep but nice looking cardboard sleeves that look like record sleeves. You won't read most of the print on the back of the sleeves it's very small. The sound of the C.D.'s is taken from good clean vinyl records but still has hissing between the songs and on the slower songs.
What you get here and on vol 2 is C.D.'s that look and sound like vinyl records. Good, maybe BUT the sound of all the C.D.'s is very quiet. You need a good sound system to play the music and turn it up loud almost to the max! If you do play the music loud they sound good apart from some hissing.
I am glad a lot of people like the package here. I wish the sound was louder. Here you get no bonus tracks. Maybe they will release all her Atlantic albums I hope so because her last 5 Atlantic albums that did not sell well have never had a C.D. release apart from bootlegs.
I think we are meant to hate the sound of the C.D.'s so much that we buy the albums again on single C.D.'s one at a time. So it looks like a bit of a con to me.
I don’t know why some people are saying the sound is good to my ears the sound is not good.
I have be buying some of the albums here again on single c.d’s. The sould is a lot better and much louder.
Not all of the albums here are truly great but there are some good songs on all the albums. I really love the lady soul album one or her best here.
