fifth in a series of audios bringing radio items about the show to CD. the first three had elisabeth sladen presenting them. The fourth was a group of radio plays which involve the show, and now we come onto the latest in the series, which focuses on radio items about the tenth doctor. some of them are actually from tv shows and use the sound only. some of these lose a little bit of impact without the visuals, but most work fine.
The clips are spread over two discs, each an hour long, and form a sequential look at the latest era of the show, starting with the run up to the broadcasting of david tennant's first story. A lot of them are documentaries from bbc radio wales, and thus may not have been heard by listeners elsewhere before. these are pretty good, and do contain some good interviews. One thing you notice about these is that the new popularity and quality of the show means the interviewers can no longer make lame jokes about wobbly scenery and have instead to ask good questions! This is a relief.
Disc one closes with an amusing little item that completely fooled me as much as the lady being interviewed. And disc two closes with a nicely formatted piece about the spin off show the sarah jane adventures.
This isn't an essential purchase, but it's an enjoyable listen
I was expecting something i hadn,t heard before on this cd so was a little dissapointed to hear all the usual interviews by DT and there was extra stuff by Lis Sladen which i wasn,t bothered about. This cd would be ok for someone who had missed DT,s interviews in the past but if you,re a fan then there is nothing new on here.
It was really good to have all this radio archive material as most of it was unheard by me at the time. It does seem a shame that the cds are so short, but that leaves me hoping that there will be a further release one day. Elisabeth Sladen does a good job of linking the items.
