I bought this album as vinyl in the 1960s. I have always thought it the best album of all times! It has a wide variety from Indian influences that were so in vogue then as well a bossa nova and all the songs are original and full of wisdom.

Those fans of 60's Mod and Club Rhythm & Blues who are looking for a mess of that Hammond Organ driven dance floor fillers would be advised to look elsewhere than at this album. 'Transition' is most definitely just that - something that moves from R&B into some pleasantly psyche-lite territory, with much use of sitars and flutes in amongst the more orthodox moddy gear. I find the more rambling instrumental Psyche stuff quite reflective and effective. The soully stuff is still pretty good, too, and, although he'd get more thoroughly Psychedelic with Dantalian's Chariot, this is at times a very pleasant and absorbing listen - but be prepared to be confused...
