Warp10+3 Remixes
Format: MP3 Download|Change

on 22 January 2016
i ve owned this warp remix cd for several years (maybe ten years now) and sporadically play it for the odd gem here such as by like vibert, plaid, four tet, oval and jim tenor but overall warp 10+3 remixes is a patchy affair , with too many remixes of classic warp back cataloge from AFX, nightmares on wax, lfo etc as being inconsequential .

as a music producer myself and music obsessive with a wide palette of tastes i'm all for left field creativity at existing tracks - as it is here BUT both cd s here are inconsistent and do not offer enough yeah right ! moments. too many tracks offer minimal excitement , bpm head nods or track remixes that match the best of the originals by AFX et al. the artwork on this warp series is iconic and superb of course but that really doesn't save this compilation from being decidely hit n miss. if you do belive me :buy then go compare with AFX 26 mixes for cash cd and see what i mean....

Lets get stright to the point here shall we? If you are at all interested in elctronic music or IDM (Intelligent Dance Music) as it has become know, they you really should have pressed that 'buy now' button already.
This is one almighty remix album which at first I thought was going to be awful because it trys to turn perfection into something different and still make a good 'new' tune. But thats what has been done here.
Stereolab turn Boards of Canada's genius track 'Kid for Today' into a strange trip-hop/rock/hip-hop/elctro esq tune that will leave you smiling if you loved the original track as much as you should.
ISAM, makes Seefeel's 'When Face was face' into one of the best electronic tracks ever.
And Bogdan Raczynski makes some noise for us all the scrath our heads to - its ment to be the sound he thinks of when he is listening to Autechre's EP7 & Envane ep's. But its good of course.
Anyway - your still reading this and I bet you've not pushed the 'buy' button so go on with you now, buy it!

This is an absolutely superb collection. The remixers have had a tough job doing justice to these tunes, but in my view they have done a spot-on job. Four Tet have beefed up one of Aphex Twin's "floating" melodies from Ambient Works II without ruining the atmosphere, while Red Snapper's mix of Wilmot by the Sabres of Paradise is a great uplifting and danceable tune with a Latinesque feel. All the tunes are of an extremely high standard, and I recommend this album to anyone with an interest in electronic music, whether they are long-time fans of Warp's output or as an introduction to newcomers. Do it. BUY NOW !!!!

this is weird music the kind of music you should really listen to at 2 am to unwind from a strange day of occurrences. You maybe reminded of hardcore techno at a rave with a chill out room where some hippy played the sort of music that gave you flashbacks of being in a field somewhere watching the sunrise or something of that nature, its nice to hear this without that infernal thud thud from the main hardcore room. only for the headstrong.

Anyone who enjoys Warp music will captivated by this album, or perhaps pair of albums. With two CDs you - at least I - will find yourself choosing one or the other to play. Perhaps each for different reasons and different moods. Simply marvelous.
