End of an Era and the Beginning of Filler.
on 1 March 2014
Naruto vs Sasuke continues from with Episodes 131 to 135 finishing up the current arc and pretty much ending the majority of the Naruto Part 1 Manga adapted material with a few small scenes of Canon been shown in Filler Episodes. The final fight itself is well worth the wait and one of the better and over the top animated fight scenes rivaling that of the Third Hokage vs the First and Second back in Series 3. Its explosive, emotional and the animation is full of energy.
Overall the Arc ends with what's to come in Shippuden when we're finally introduced to a small hint of the upcoming Villains but Part 1 is still far from over. While the Main Stories might be over the rest of the Series continues on with Filler Episodes and Story Arches that for the most part are either hit or miss. But with this Box Set Series the Filler Stories for the time being are pretty fun and actually connect to Canon stories and characters already established while at the same time taking the time to develop some of our more favorite supporting characters who otherwise don't get the much needed development they deserve once Shippuden starts.
Episodes 136 to 141 deals with Naruto and Sakura joining together to find Sasuke while Master Jiraiya tags along as Team Leader. The Arc offers us some interesting character interactions that the main plot never really offered and we also get some return of some familiar faces along with some new characters and enemies that while not as interesting as previous villains still manage to be a unique threat. Plus the Arc itself it shows how much of a horrific monster Orochimaru and how far he takes his experiments. The Arc also serves to develop Sakura as a Character before she finally at the end of it decides to be trained as a Medical Ninja under Lady Tsunade.
Episodes 142 to 147 deals with the return of Naruto's Episode 1 Villain, Mizuki, who escapes from a high security Prison with two other, more powerful Prisoners. The Arc itself is a bit comedic but does have its serious and darker moments when it comes to Mizuki's character and it also serves to throw Iruka into the action and develop his relationship with Naruto and far the two have progressed together since the beginning of the Series.
Episodes 148 to 151 is a Filler Arc that focuses more on the characters of Hinata and Shino as they work with teammate Kiba to help Naruto find a rare insect called the Bikochu Beetle that will help them find Sasuke. The Arc serves more as a character development between the various characters here while also showing Hinata's growth and progress in her skills. Overall, not a pointless Filler Arc if fans love the character of Hinata.
Episodes 152 to 156 deals with Naruto joining Rock Lee, Neji and Tenten as they battle Villain Raiga, a former member of the Seven Swordsmen of the Mist with possible connections to former member and now Akatsuki member, Kisame. The Arc itself ends on a cliffhanger with the last episode of the Arc been continued in the next Box set Series. The Arc in particular is worth it just to see the characters of Team Guy kicking ass and the Villainous Raiga is one of the more unique psychotic characters that the show hasn't seen in a while.
Overall, Series 6 is worth it. It's got a awesome fight that it starts with and some interesting and awesome Filler Stories that give much needed development to alot of fan favorites. This is one Box Set you don't want to ignore or miss.
