This World War 1 - Memorabilia Pack is an ideal
teaching aid for both school age children and
for adults seeking to learn more about WW1.

As with all of these packs, they come as a small
and informative collection of ephemera, here
representing the 1914-1918 war.
The smallest items are a collection of cigarette
size cards in the form of recruiting posters and
photographs of weapons of war of the period, the
cards originally issued by Wills tobacco products,
in an era when nearly every man smoked.

The Temperance Movement encouraged men to "Sign the
Pledge" a patriotic duty to stay alcohol free for
the war, and we have a copy of the Patriotic Pledge
signed by serviceman, David Thomas.
Propaganda cards, an Identity Card, and several forms
and information leaflets aimed at the home front are
included, giving a mental picture of what life was like
with food rationing and the threat of invasion.
A small 30 page booklet titled "When I Join The Ranks"
and issued to all men on joining up, is included and
this gives an overview of do's and don'ts, pay rates,
and discipline, with no hint or suggestion of the
horrors to come.
Probably the most significant piece of ephemera here
is a copy of the Confidential Medical Report into
the illness of 2/Lieutenant Wilfred Owen, who was sent
to the Welsh Hospital at Netley and later to the War
Hospital in Edinburgh. Owen is now considered one of
the important writers and war poets of his day.

A copy of The Star newspaper from November 11, 1918
announcing the Armistice rounds off this most interesting
pack. Ideal primary source material for the period,
which if used in conjunction with films of the day
should provide at least an idea of what the Great War
was like for both those at home and the men and women
who were sacrificed in it's wake.

Another good product
in the Memorabilia range.
Worth the money.

This pack - and all the others in this series - are a great idea but, for teaching purposes, they are too small. I would be happy to pay more for more "lifesize" replicas.

This is just what we wanted for our display at the church for next year as we have 6 WW1 soliders commemorated who left the village and did not come back.

Bought for the kids' homework without much thought but this was a really good collection of realistic artefacts, the kids were really into them (as was I). Good buy. Plenty to talk about

Really good product. The students loved looking at the items. Very useful to have when teaching a class novel. I am very interested to buy other packs like this too. Really educational and a handy teaching tool.

A fascinating and quite comprehensive pack of items reflecting accurately the various aspects of the period and
certainly effective in establishing an albeit distant, nostalgic link with a family relative who volunteered to fight,
unfortunately, but for a brief time, in the conflict.

A stunning and realistically reproduced collection of World War 1 booklets and cards. It really gives you a sense of 'being there'. Works brilliantly as a teaching aid to allow students to feel a connection to such an important part of British and World history.

I bought this pack for display to go alongside information and research about the people commemorated on our local War Memorial - it's just what I need to finish it off the display. Good quality, not too big so won't take up too much room on the board but will add enrich the display ten fold
