In the 'bats third release "Floating Eye Of Death", the familiar ska sounds so prominent in their two previous album are subsituted a bit for a more Electronic feel, but the album does definatly not suffer from this.
Kicking off with "Sequence Erase", we see the new direction of the bands music, with great horn and guitar work being complimented by some electronic sounds. This sound is carried on through most of the album, with some exceptions, "Chemical Bomb" leans toward a more relaxed caribean sound, but the comedy is there. Some of these songs have such good chorus's, which never really leave you feeling bored "Anti-Matter" and "Canis Lupis" are good examples.
It's hard to define the aquabats sound, but I would go for electronically enhanced ska music with a twist, and possibly the most comedic lyrics in music at the moment. The Aquabats are like a breath of fresh air, in the current "emotional" heavy draining pap that seems to be popular, not naming names..... *cough*nickleback*cough*
So if this is your first sight of the aquabats, I recommend pick either this or their newer album "....Other Amazing Aventures" and then go back and pick up their two first albums, "The Fury Of The Aquabats" demonstrates a more pure ska sound, and is essential to ska fans.
