A little bit of a disappointment.
on 5 May 2014
The 4th story of the 1st series, originally transmitted April - May 1964, has The Doctor and the 3 original companions on a quest to find the missing keys to the Conscience of Marinus machine. The first of many 'quest' stories in Doctor Who, the basic plot was good, but I'm afraid that time has not been kind to this story. The sets feel pretty poor, and its not until the last 2 episodes that the program returns to its usual standard.
I remember this story when it was originally transmitted, and maybe my recollection of this story after all of these years was better than it actually was. Not that I'm dismissing it outright. This is a piece of Dr.Who history, that I just had to have. I have only 2 stories to go before I have all of the available Hartnell stories on DVD, so I just had to purchase this one.
The bonus material is also a bit of a let down. being a 6 part story on 1 disc, there is not a lot of bonus material available, and I get the impression that even those who were involved in making this story, either can't remember much about it, or are a little embarrassed about it.
