If you are a fan of quirky progressive rock with a 1970's flavour, then you may well enjoy the latest release from Sweden's Beardfish. Although by their own admission they are greatly influenced by early King Crimson & Gentle Giant, Beardfish have their own distinctive sound & are very much a 21st century band. Destined Solitaire follows in a similar vein to Sleeping in Traffic (parts one & two), the previous two releases. If you like either of these then you won't be disappointed. If you are new to Beardfish, you can expect some long & complex arrangements, catchy pop influenced hooks & guitar/keyboard driven rock, all mixed together with a dash of surreal humour. While this album won't set the world on fire, it never fails to entertain & will certainly bear repeated plays. I expect to be still enjoying it long into the future. Buy it.
