A spare 2hrs of charge
on 4 October 2011
If you've got a Contour GPS camera there's a reasonable chance that you'll be using it in fairly remote locations where you might not have easy access to a charging point. A fully charged battery with "average" video capture settings will probably get you between 2 - 2.5 hours of recording time. Given the ease of turning the camera on/off this should be enough for most situations but when you're on a "epic" ride in the hills, bike-packing across the country or just wanting to record a particularly long event, a spare battery is a good investment.
This one is the Real McCoy from Contour. There might be cheaper options available but my preference is always to go with the manufacturers own just in case there's a problem and your wartranty gets invalidated for using non OEM parts.
Because it's made by Contour, it just works. There's not really much more to say about it. It fits just like the supplied battery. It holds the same amount of charge (about 2 - 2.5 hrs given "normal" settings) and it charges in the same way. On the topic of charging, when you've only got one battery for your Contour, it's easy enough to charge it in the camera through the USB cable - with a second battery the USB charging adapter becomes a more useful addition (but not essential).
If it had provided a longer charge than the original then it would have been 5 stars. As it is, it's just the same as the one you get with the camera but it does give you and extra 2hours of recording time which I like so it gets 4 stars.
