I love mysims on the ds- i think it's a really fun series and enjoy the games in general, so when i heard this was coming out, i couldn't wait. I read some reviews (finding them was difficult) but all were positive and i got the game.

The story shoud be familiar by now- the new sim in town (you) has to bring speedsville back to its former glory by competing in races. You can upgrade your car by obtaining blue prints plus change the way you look.

The game itself is split into story mode, quick races and multiplayer. The quick races are basically racing tracks you have unlocked and the multi player allows you to play with people locally or through the wi-fi (something which isn't available on the wii version). The story mode is split into three main tasks: driving in races, the stunt challenges and completing tasks given by the townfolk (these are usually driving to a destination or collecting something, with both having against the clock challenges occasionally)

As seen in my other reviews, i really enjoyed playing the first three mysims games. However, this game feels.. average. I feel very dissapointed because it seems the was for nothing. The reason for this is as follows:

The car is quite hard to handle. When i first played it, i was all over the place and hitting the side of the road. I would also drive into others driving, but they would just drive into you, so you have to reverse before they move. A bit sily really.

The tasks can be boring. The townfolk only have two requests: to take them to a specific place or to collect items. Some are timed but these are very few and far between. I feel more of these would have made the game more exciting (infact, there were no timed challenges during the third star level). Also, they could have included track challenges (do a lap under 1 minute, collect items while racing etc) as this again would have boosted the replay value.

Although you do obtain blue prints, they rarely make a difference. There is a slight improvement with the different engines and frames, but the others are purely for decoration. Why not make use of them (e.g- collect a power up for the bat wings so you can fly etc).

The tracks are not difficult to beat- i only had to re-race one three times, and that was the last one. Infact, star level 4 only has one track and it is very difficult (so no good for the little ones). I also feel twelve tracks is a bit of a rip off. It is also sometimes difficut to see where you are driving, even with the map down the bottom, it is sometimes useless. This does make it slightly more challenging but you should see where you're going at least.

I'm now on star level five (took me two days to get to this and complete the master stunt challenges, overall playing time about 7 hours) but i still have some blue prints which need to be made into items. It seems the only way to get extra coins is by collecting all the green boxes as you don't win coins for coming first in a race after you've completed it once (a little unfair i feel). It is a real anti-climax when you reach star level 5- i have completed the stunt challenges and done all the favours for people and then nothing. No "well done you've finished the game" despite collecting all the blue prints- nothing. As i said, i can try to obtain extra coins in the green boxes, but they have so few in them (mostly 5- 6 coins) it would take me ages to get what i need (most items require alot of one coins, especially character cars), and to be honest, after playing each track twice, i don't really fancy playing them again, especially with not being able to see where you're going.

I have tried the wi-fi connection but it seems no one else out there has this game, so i can't even tell you if the mulitplayer wi-fi is good (no else i know has this game)

The graphics are a step back i feel, compared to the last game. They remind me more of mysims kingdom! Although they characters are fun in their own way, they could have been made a little better. Also, why all the surroundings but you can't leave your car (apart from your house and the garage)? To me, it seems a waste.

I feel that maybe they should have waited to release this. Releasing three mysims games in a year seems too much to me- maybe they should have stuck at mysims party (a very good game by the way) and maybe release this a bit later on with better graphics and better gameplay. Out of all the mysims games, this is my least favourite and i don't think i will play this again. Children will probably enjoy it but they may become frustrated by how the car handles and the top screen. Also, like many people, i can't help but comapre this to mario kart- it seems very simular to mario (in terms of environments and some power ups) but mario kart is a lot more fun and you have a better chance to compete in wi-fi mode. I'm glad they're trying something new but to me, this doesn't make the grade- the wii version is said to be better and a lot more fun plus more to do. If you want to try it, borrow it first or wait a few months to go into sale- there are much better racing games out there. Overall, a disapointing effort from mysims and ea.

MySims Racing is a raging game with a difference, you start of with your own little Sim which you name and you then design your own car to take you around the game in.

The game play is broken down into tasks where you drive around the town helping people in order to gain 'essences' which you can then use to improve your car or if your lucky you may get blueprints which you can take the garage to get the mechanic to make to then add to your car to improve its speed and manuverability. The other part of the game is of course races. In order to move through the game you will need to be able to win these races to gain the blueprints which will give you the best racing car possible. As you race the other sims on the race track you pick up parcels which contain various things to use on your opponents to help you get to the front of the pack.

I find that the game play took a bit of getting used to the bottom screen shows a map of where you are going and the top screen shows where you are in the town and so you need to keep an eye on both the map to see where you need to go and the top screen so you don't drive into anything on your way to your destination.

The game play is addictive and I just want to keep trying until I win the race. My tip would be help as many people in the village as you can to earn the as many essenses and blueprints as possible so your car will beat the others. When helping others you can say no without loosing anything some people may want to be driven to the beach which maybe 3 screens away and if you on your way somewhere else you can come back to them and not loose out so don't think you have to help everyone immediately. The graphics are very bright and colourful as you play which adds to the experience. this game can be played against others but I have not experienced this so can not comment.

Overall a fun racing game for young and old a like 5 stars from me.

Your sim is always in the car, which can be upgraded, and has to perform favours to earn money. There are races to compete in which is also a possible source of income. Different to other sims games. Great for my six-year old who's mad about cars and racing.

I hunted high and low for an exciting game for my 7 year old. All the 3+ games were too easy for her. This is her favourite game at the moment. She loves it. I think there are some challenging bits and all is good fun. My 10 year old loves it too.

I think my sims racing is ok but gets rather boring after a while. I would reccomend it if you like cartoony racing games. But it is not the best. There is better games out there!

Interactive fun with the characters. Great races. Can get a bit frustrating because the characters drive over you somehow. but great fun.
