Quality, Value and Performance...
on 10 February 2010
I bought this phone for my partner to hopefully end her run of dismal luck with cheap cordless phones (hopeless call quality and equally bad reliability). I have had 2 Panasonic DECT phones for over 5 years and they have been totally reliable and have performed really well, so I had no hesitation in buying this phone.
Happily initial impressions are all excellent. For the price, the phone seems well put together. The large display is well lit (orange backlight) and the characters are easy to read (important if you have Caller Display). Equally the dialler buttons are large and fall easily to one-handed operation. Like the display the buttons are backlit so dialling in a dark room isn't a hassle.
The phone menus are intuitive and easy to navigate. My partner hates reading instruction manuals, and she managed to work out how to fully set up and use the phone without taking the instructions from the box!
Call quality is truly excellent! Voice sounds natural, there is no interference whatsoever and hardly any background hiss. With her previous cheap cordless DECT phones, speech started to break up when she moved to the next room. With the Panasonic she can move anywhere in her house and everything remains perfectly clear.
As she has only had the phone for a few days it is too early to comment on reliability; however my Panasonic phones are still going strong after 5 years so I would be very surprised if this phone will be any different.
All in all this is a great piece of kit. If you are after a basic cordless handset that is well put together, has great call quality and doesn't take MENSA membership to figure out how to use it, then you could do a lot worse than purchase this phone. Highly recommended!
UPDATE - 18 months on and the phone is still going strong... My partner is deighted with it!
