Using this antenna with a Alfa usb device , this antenna is mounted on a 10ft poll outside and its amazing, im using it to link to a friends house. This needs to mounted as high as possible to work well.
BEWARE ! This aerial is widely advertised on the internet as being able to transmit and receive "Up to 1200 meters" Now, no way am i saying your gunna get that range, but...... when mounting the aerial on a pole, on the outside of a shed, with only 3 m3tres of cable to the router, I would expect to get more than 50 meters, outside, in line of site of the aerial.
So, this is performing like, below 5% of the expected, average range of the advertised product. On contacting customer support at TP Link, all I got was a load of gobbledygook, of technical specs, and a lesson in how aerials work, but not a single answer of why this was under performing by so much ! So I have to assume that this product is performing right, and the product spec is misrepresented by the manufacturers.
They also said that the power from the router aerial feed may have been an issue, but failed to "recommend" any that would perform better, even though I did not tell them what router i was using.
