“What is that smell?” [almost everyone in the film]

This Polish disc actually enters directly into the film which plays an English soundtrack with Polish subtitles. These can be switched off by accessing the menu button on your remote, select the third option for 2.0 or 5.1 and drop down to the bottom choice for subtitles off. It then plays as a standard English film.
This 2008 supernatural suspense comedy thriller [aka Reeker 2] is a prequel to Reeker, which was released in 2005, but is completely independent of the original. A sheriff and his son call into an isolated roadside truck stop and stumble across group of bank robbers on their way to Mexico when they all find they are trapped there by some malevolent force.
The plot is clever, the cast well chosen and the story gripping. The monster is unusually good for a low budget horror, helped by the fast play jerky movements and shimmering odour surrounding it. There are some good wisecracks as certain characters and scenes are played for laughs [as is the end title sequence –so make sure you read it] and with a few gory deaths it will please most and it has a good ending that even explains all the deaths.
This was entertaining and didn’t resort to gratuitous nudity or sex to help move the plot along and is well deserving of a ***** rating.
