Los Van Van are in great form here. Arrasando is good upbeat opener, with it's rhythmic shifts and syncopation. Si no te quieres tu is my favourite track on this album: Mayito Rivera, singing lead vocals, is outstanding. Starting in calm and measured tones, with sweet vibrato phrases. Then building gradually to reach the chorus, adding power and indignation, but also tempered with soft and sweet edges. The chorus line is memorable too, with a clever harmonic line. The orchestra is also in fine form, carrying the song, and providing additional sonorous melodies. Me matengo is another brilliant track, incorporating funky trombones and a simple but strong bass line, accompanied by striking, rising melodies from the violin section. Lele is in good form here - singing with passion and employing sharp, clipped rhythmic phrases. I've never heard him put in such a strong performance. The other tracks are not as strong as the 3 mentioned, but they are listenable. Overall: a great Los Van Van album - especially for the dancers.

Juan Formell & Los Van Van (The go go's) have been such a popular band for so long in Cuba.

Every song is brilliant on this album; this is possibly their best. The music is ideally listened to surrounded by swirling, dancing couples during a night out!

But Los van van are an excellent choice for Casino as well as listening to. If you like this, try also Havana Si - The Very Best of Los Van Van compiled by DJ "Dr. Jim".
