I was introduced to EU by a friend at work after my eye caught the cover of this album on his desk. After listening to it, the novelty of the cover was soon forgotten after I was taken on a breathtaking trip of minimalist beats and ambience.
The first track eases you in slowly, coaxing you into the second track, from which point on you become hooked. Tracks 2 to 5 are fairly mellow, yet quite up beat such that you just can’t help but really dig into. My personal favourite being track 5 – Nuo Comp.
At track 6, the atmosphere gets darker, moodier and sinister, the rhythm gets more erratic, the samples more obscure or curious and the pace more random. The comparison and cross over from the first half works brilliantly, even if these later tracks don’t immediately grab you as much.
The last 3 tracks loose the big bass beat and go more ethereal with darting syth sounds. A final reprise on the last track, brings the mood back up again, to leave you feeling refreshingly entertained and fulfilled. All that is needed is to go back to track one and press play again…
