The first track I heard from Ana Popovic was aired on the Paul Jones R&B show, and I was immediately struck by the unique and outstanding quality of her guitar work. Why had I not heard of her before? So I bought the album.

'Comfort to the Soul' was a welcome revelation; here is a young woman to be ranked with Santana, Mark Knopfler and Gary Moore for natural guitar brilliance and an immediately memorable individual style. She has a pure sure voice, but then so do many others, so I hope she will put more edge and variety on the vocals as she matures; however, the driving and yet melodic sounds from her virtuoso guitar are very, very special. The taut and balanced sonic landscape from the rest of the band is excellent and clearly they are a happy group enjoying their trade.

This album has strong elements from Blues, Jazz, Soul, and tantalising hints of something else. It was only when I did a websearch about her background, and to look for some more samples of her work, that I realised what the extra flavours were.

A 'must buy'.

Also well worth considering are her earlier CD Hush! (more jazzy), and later CDs Still Making History (more commercial), and Blind For Love (more introspective and mature).

I bought this CD on the strength of a newspaper review and have not been disappointed it is an excellent mix of driving and soulful blues. The guitar playing is fresh and full or energy complemented by excellent vocals - highly recommended!!

This was my first journey into Mrs popvic's music, and was tempted by the few snippets I had heard
Iwas not to be dissapointed. What first got me was the strength of her voice and the amazing guitar work.
There is not a duff track on the album. Best tracks , Love me again, foolproof, sitting on top of the world
These are the more full blues tracks but even the more jazz tinged tracks are a joy to listen. Just need to
get some more of this. Surprised never heard of this before. Oh and she a good looking girl to. This must be
enough to give it a go. Bring some comfort to your soul.

This girl is fantastic. Great voice, amazing guitar, and the songs are really good. In fact there's not much to say about this album except GET THIS ASAP. I don't think she has rivals, because other girls like Joanne Shaw Taylor, Susanne Tedeschi etc do not display the same power in vocals/guitar. In my opinion, she is one of the very best artists on the blues rock scene. Among the younger generation, she is in my top three guitar players together with Matt Schofield and Aynsley Lister (and she is definitely the best looking by miles ;-))).
