This should interest both Burton and Elfman fans. But a tribute cd played by an Orchestra of Orchestrated music doesn't sound all that exciting or different however there are a a number of positives.
For a start is great hearing the Sweeney Todd without the vocals even though the main theme sounds alittle flat the rest makes up for it. I felt there was to much batman (12 minutes + Batman returns) especially when Plant of the apes and Big Fish had been overlooked.
The piano solos from Corpse bride work very well together, A *slightly* different take on Beetlejuice was a treat while the rest is all pretty decent, Not as much percussing on theses recordings then the real ones which makes them a lot more softer and quieter.. having that 'what lurks behind feeling'. Only real weak point is probably Ed wood which is identical to the original but like the ST theme its just too flat.
Its over 60 minutes long, the sleeve had an interesting article written but the chap who put this tribute together..
Burton and Elfman fans should get a kick form hearing theses slightly inferiorly and different take on those fantastic pieces of music. casual fans probably wont get that much from this.
