Somehow this one completely passed me by, which is a shame as on several listens it sits very well alongside their other albums. The producer here is Robert "mutt" Lange and so it is not surprising that there is a good mix of the radio ballads and the heavier rock songs.

There is a mix of edgier lyrics that would stop parents from letting their kids listen through from language (Burn it to the ground) to lyrics around drugs and sex. But then if you are thinking of buying a Nickleback album this is not exactly going to put you off.

On the ballads Gotta Be Somebody, Never Gonna Be Alond and If Today Was Your Last Day are the standout songs. The other songs that do stick in your mind are This Afternoon and particularly S.E.X.

Here Nickleback have managed their trick of finding songs that different people can listen to and enjoy for different reasons. Never going to appease hardcore rock fans, if you like the mixture then definitely buy this one.

Some of the reviews and poor marks is a little harsh. Sure lyrics are not exactly poetry but they are simple. The melody of most of the songs are very catchy.
The opening song on the album is off to a flyer - Something in your mouth. The album is very similar to the last couple of albums in terms of melody, ballads, riffs, etc. It seems Nickelback are settling in this sort of musical style. Songs like 'If today was your last day', 'Never gonna be alone', 'Just to get high', 'I'd come for you', are my favorite and I reckon their strongest songs that the majority will like. This album is a good uplifting one and if you enjoyed the last couple of albums by Nickelback you will enjoy this one.

So this album, well I'm not going to say an awful lot about that aspect of the transaction, if you like Nickelback you'll like the album, there is a good mix of rock on there, some of the tracks (well,Track 5) is a bit heavy for my tastes but the rest of it is really very good.

I want to say how much I am liking Amazon's MP3 service! It's really fast on the download, it's bloody good value and it's DRM free, if you don't have an iPod (and therefore have no excuse to use iTunes) then there really are very few other ways to buy MP3 music this easily.

I love Rock Music but have been a little sat on the fence with Nickelback as they can be a bit commercialized. However after seeing them live earlier this year I have fallen in love with them & cannot get enough of these Gentlemen of Rock, great album & if you get a chance to see these guys perform it's a MUST!
