Two albums on one CD is on offer here from the great Nelson Riddle. The albums fit well together and make a generous package. The sound texture is lush orchestral strings and sweeping sweet melodies. The style of the music is typical of the time it was recorded with its romantic, polished and sophisticated late 50`s and early 60`s sound. There is a strong element of relaxing sentiment and dreamy warmness throughout. There is the strength of the full orchestra with rich echoes of romance. All of the tracks are instrumental. The first album, Sea of Dreams, was recorded in 1958 and the second album, Love Tide was recorded in 1961. They are both in stereo and the original sleeve boasted "Capitol stereo recording the full spectrum of sound" This release has been wonderfully re mastered. The sound is incredible and there is indeed a full wide spectrum of sound and clarity. Nelson Riddle had been famous doing orchestration for albums for the likes of Frank Sinatra from 1953 and continued through the 60`s. He also did orchestration for albums for Ella Fitzgerald and Nat King Cole. And also did the same for other artists like Judy Garland, Dean Martin, Peggy Lee, Shirley Bassey, Rosemary Clooney, Bing Crosby, Dinah Shore and Jack Jones. He also did a lot of work for Film and TV. But these two great albums are credited to just Nelson Riddle and his Orchestra. This is a welcome release and it's a great CD of music from a bygone age.
