The Original Masters As Was Would Be Better Than This
on 12 November 2009
Sorry to rain on so many peoples' parade, but the sound quality of this isn't a patch on my original vinyl which was superb. And this isn't the old vinyl vs CD argument. I have nothing against CDs owning loads myself, but I really get angry when the music industry promises something better and fails miserably as in this case (and in the case of Bob Seger's Like A Rock album).
When I hear old rock and blues songs remastered by the likes of the Ace label, and the crisp sound they can produce from ancient mono tapes, this is a joke.
This album is a cornerstone of rock music and deserves so much better. The album is based upon the percussion instruments which on the original are clear and crisp, but this sound is so muddy it could have been remastered by a bass player who was only interested in hearing himself!
