This guy is an astounding comedian. His material isn't for everyone but for those who are of a disposition where you get easily offended please remember that this is just an act. Some comedians are offensive for offensive sake and Doug Stanhope does not fall into that category. Behind the words lie a subtlety that a lot of listeners will not appreciate but there is a well versed well rehearsed and highly honed act that matches anything on the comedy circuit today. This cd is a must buy for those comedy fans who are growing ever tired of the bland, witty, satiristic comedians who are doing the rounds in the uk at the moment. Make no mistake, Doug Stanhope is comedy genius, an absolute comedy genius.

(The full title is 'Deadbeat Hero, BTW')

Mr Stanhope is the most exciting and offensive comedian in the world today, and this is his most extreme album.

The track-listing includes "Two-headed baby",trannies, vasectomy & abortion so you can imagine the topics, but they are explored with great originality & wit.

Some of the material on his albums overlap, so I would recommend this album with Sicko to get a good understanding. His website is excellent too.

The obvious complaint would be to see him as a rip-off of Bill Hicks topics (drugs, smoking, sex) with a libertarian ("Don't tell me to put a seatbelt on!") attitude but he does go much further.

He is a rare visitor to the UK (perhaps more so after being banned from the Kilkenny Comedy Festival) but I have tickets for his Manchester show later in the year, ha-ha!

The world needs Stanhope more than Stanhope needs the world.
Collect his every word before he finally throws up his hands in frustration and walks off the stage.
