Mike Slamer is a genius; a brilliant guitar player and producer; Terry Brock is one of the best AOR singers on the planet and when you combine these ingredients you get this: 'Jaded' is worth the price of the album alone - this is the best AOR song I have EVER heard. Absolute perfection. 'Runaway' is just that - like being hit by a runaway train; soaring harmonies and guitar pyrotechnics dominate this wonderful piece of music. In fact it is pointless reviewing this album in detail as every track is at least a 9/10 and some, (those discussed above) actually hit perfection. If you like your AOR smooth, clean, well performed and done with soul then buy this groundbreaking release.

This is the best CD of the year so far and probably will not be beaten. This is the finest AOR I have heard in a long while. If you liked the Seventh Key Project then you will be blown away by this.Mike Slamer's guitar solo's are note for note perfection, and Terry Brock's voice is a joy to behold. Together they have created the most wonderful music you will hear in this genre.

I think what makes it so good is that the songs are a mixture of very melodic AOR and progressive passages topped off with anthemic chrouses.

Just get this album now its fantastic.

I wasn`t overly impressed with Steelhouse Lane. Great sounds but no real killer tracks. Well this is Mike Slamer stepping out from the shadows album & its a good solid effort. I bought this along with Joe Lynn Turners Sunstorm & Richie Zitos Project, Avalon & to be fair this is for me the best production of the 3 but i think imho Avalon has slightly more killer tracks than this. This is certainly a much moodier album "Jaded" "Beyond The Pale" being two fine examples of this. The guitar sounds are big & Slamers playings certainly fine & he`s note selection is very good But there`s no Pop`ish type of AOR songs here that`ll have you walking away singing `em after a few listens. Check out Street Talk or Final Frontier, Brother Firetribe for great singable tunes. If you liked House Of Lords World Upside Down then this albums going to be right up your street. There's no singles here but good tunes non the less. You will find yourself putting this on & leaving it to play right to the end [ always a good sign ]unlike JLT Sunstorm that`ll have you reaching for the skip button. Certainly one of the better AOR albums of the year 2006. Go Buy

Having had to re-purchased this album, I was interested to see other reviews of this CD some 6 months after release. Some of you guys are soooo negative and need your heads testing. This is without doubt one of the finest examples (if not the finest) of this genre in the last decade. Brocks vocals define what melodic rock is all about and are of the highest calibre. Slamers production is up there with the Stone/Elson/Shirly's of the world and his musicmanship is second to none. Songwriting values complete a first class package. While everyone has there favourate tracks, this is a complete album without any duffs or fillers. Exceptional!

(Reviewer #1 - I threw Avalon in the bin on first listen. Not in the same league!!)

Well I'll start off by saying I am a big Slamer fan. His work with Steelhouse Lane was fantastic and IMO achieved one of the great albums of all time with 'Slaves Of The New World'. His Seventh Key exploits were also pretty good so I was quite looking forward to his new works. I think this album is excellently produced [as can be expected from Slamer] the vocals are good, the guitars are great the overall sound is crisp but what disappoints me is the lack of real expert songwriting on this album. Audio Illusion is perhaps my favourite track off the album.I bought this at the same time as the 'Sunstorm featuring Joe Lynn Turner' CD album and can say right off the bat that I prefer that album by a country mile. In a word this new Slamer album is 'forgettable'.
