Hadn't seen this for a while so gave it a spin on Amazon Prime, perhaps it's nostalgia running wild but I found it to be still as good as ever. I'm a fan of John Candy and this is a great showcase for his particular talents.

The story finds Candy as the titular Harry Crumb, a private investigator taking on the case of a kidnapped heiress. He's not the greatest P.I the worlds ever seen but manages to fumble and bumble his way through an absurd plot of twists and turns - not unlike Leslie Nielsen in The Naked Gun or perhaps Chevy Chase in Fletch.

If you like either of those films or their ilk then you'll likely get a kick out of this - its got a witty script, plenty of pratfalls and some good sight gags. Candy is great and the rest of the cast are clearly game for it, including a turn from the ever reliable Jefferey Jones (Ferris Buellers principal). It's all very 80's - from the music, to the hair, to the clothes and indeed the stereotypes but it only adds to the charm. Overall, a fun little package, well worth a look.

Not all of john candy's films are that funny, but this film features john candy as an inept private detective and is really funny without any bad language or nudity. Suitable for family viewing. Great price for an entertaining film.

Not one of John Candy's best in my opinion, but being John Candy you know there are going to be some laughs in it. It is a typical 80's film really, simply story and full of slapstick. Harry Crumb is a private eye who comes from a long line of private eyes but is unfortunately lacking in their abilities and never quite gets it right. It is a quite enjoyable film with some good humour in it but it doesn't seem to grab your attention very well. All in all 3/5.

I really enjoyed this film. Was on the hunt for more of his films and stumbled on this.
Not quite 'uncle buck' but easy, enjoyable watching.

Who's Harry Crumb is and will always be in my top ten comedy films. The whole absurdness if the plot and slapstick moments make this an all time classic. It also has one of the best opening scenes of a comedy EVER!

For John Candy fans. You've got to laugh! Candy plays a useless private detective whose performance is akin to that of Inspector Clouseau with equally outrageous results. It's a ridiculous film with lots of funny scenes.
