Robust and durable with low rolling resistance.
on 29 November 2017
I have just purchased my fourth consecutive 25mm GP 4 Season Vectran for the back wheel. I prefer the noticeably faster GP4000 but found them insufficiently resistant to nicks and cuts so now I only run the GP4000 on the front.
Two of the GP 4 Season lasted a decent 6000 km. (The other was severely cracked after less than 1000km.) At 6K the tread is thinning and wearing flat over a 6-7mm width. The seam becomes visible on the side wall and the thin remaining tread cracks across the running surface (see photos). Elsewhere nicks from grit and flints are small. Small cracks do not extend with time.
The balance between rolling resistance and puncture protection suits the roads and my riding. I find winter tyres are too heavy; summer tyres cannot last on winter roads or poor surfacing.
The only downside is the lowest selling price on the web increases a couple of quid each time.
