Zoo tycoon 2 review!
on 25 June 2016
Having previously owned the original zoo tycoon and many other tycoon titles and being a big fan i was expecting to like this game- and i do, allot.
I wont go into too much detail of the game specifics but Zoo tycoon 2 very much picks up and builds on the successful foundation from which the original was made, with several new expansions and game modes to explore. The expansions in the ultimate collection offer loads of new and exciting animals and items and just gives so much room for creativity. Imagine a zoo design in your head and you can probably create it in zoo tycoon there are that many options! And although the graphics are outdated nowadays, they still cant and shouldn't be compared to other games nowadays, Zoo tycoon graphics in their own weird and wonderful way just work. And lets be honest its a game played for the game play, not the graphics.
The only thing i could criticise this game for is that from my own experience the animals can be very hard work at time and constantly need attention, seemingly every couple seconds, although this doesn't ruin the game, it can become frustrating and you can begin to question why the zoo keepers are even there! I wanted to be able to explore and enjoy my hard worked zoo but its difficult when Wildebeest 3 cant ever find its water bowl that's right in front of its face!
Overall Zoo tycoon is a successful progression in the tycoon franchise that offers many new and cool features e.g. fossil finding to name one, and with the expansion packs it offers a new dimension to the tycoon game. However what will always be the main reason these games remain a 'classic' is due to its ability to grab you into an imaginary world packed with creativity, freedom and of course, animals! Overall i would give this game a strong 4.5/5 and thoroughly recommend to anyone who is a tycoon fan or just likes animals!
