This 2008 album is, I think, the fourth from Absentee. I listened to it after having heard some of Dan Michaelson's solo work and wanting to hear more of his unique voice and writing.

It's an excellent album. It takes a wry, cynical look at life, inverting the traditional love song and talking about the way most people really feel. Lyrically there is an eye for everyday detail and a sense of humour that ether makes you smile or think. Centre stage is Dan Michaelson's voice, that deep, craggy moan that sounds perpetually world weary. He's a great singer, totally unique. The rest of the band are no slouches either, and a decent album of music ranging form slower, bluesier numbers to some up-tempo rockers result, played with precision and imagination.

An excellent album, certainly one of the best of Absentee's short life. 5 stars.
