Lovely debut album by the revamped, more progressive looking Moody Blues line-up featuring the talented duo of Justin Hayward (guitar/vocals) and John Lodge (bass/vocals) who joined the group after the first incarnation of the Moodies had dissolved. Although a lot of this album is dominated by the orchestral passages linking the band's songs, once the original material is allowed to rise to the top it is quite superb with the gorgeous 'Nights In White Satin, and the lovely 'Tuesday Afternoon' standing out as Moody classics. Well worth investing in here as well as the other 6 albums in the 'Magnificent Moodies' collection of the late 1960s/early 1970s.

A great album. Bought this CD to replace my original copy that was borrowed and never returned. Already have the original Vinyl LP from the mid 60s which is now a bit worn.

A Prog Rock classic. Either you are into this sort of thing or you are not. If you like it then this is a good one. Lots of progy weirdness interspersed with some great tunes.

Amazing to think this groundbreaking classic was released FIFTY years ago! First time a prog rock band had used full orchestration on a concept album. Other than the iconic Nights in White Satin, plenty of other great songs for Moodies fans to immerse themselves in. This unique album marked the start of a legendary journey. Remaster is clean and clinical. An orchestra in your front room!
