Sir David Attenborough is a scientist and naturalist of the hightest caliber and reputation. I was extremely pleased to see Sir David tackle the issue of climate change in this documentary, "The Truth About Climate Change". Published in 2006, this documentary program preceded the "climate gate" fiasco, which attempted to discredit the science behind climate change. Actually, the science behind climate change is sound, and this is presented very clearly in this documentary program. There is a growing body of evidence presented, from ice cores from Greenland to sedimentation from the ocean floor, to historical records and statistics that show that humans activities are not isolated from the changes we are seeing today. While there are cyclical changes in climate in earth's history, the present changes really appear to be directly influenced by human activity, such as emitting 30,000,000,000 tons of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere each year.

This program is extremely well done, and should be viewed by anyone interested in this controversial issue.

Clear and explicit message, compiled with Attenborough's famous clarity and gentle passion. Low average rating appears consequence of climate-change-deniers rather than quality of the film.

As you would expect from a BBC and D Attenborough combination, this is a very good overview of climate change, with good narration and visuals. The Open University logo may give the impression that the DVD contains more technical content, but it does not. It is a very good overview of climate change, but if you are looking for something "deeper", then I would stick with the books.

Another good turn from the Open University and Sir David Attenborough. Not as global as some other documentaries but the choice to keep things closer to home works well here.

This is an enthralling DVD - though would you expect any less from David Attenborough? My son who is hoping to study geography at university loved this.

Exactly the right product for the teaching job I was doing: A Level AQA cross media study into climate change. Great resource.

Nicely shot alarmist material with pretty much no challenging science nor scrutiny on some basic levels. The planet is in a warming phase. Its perfectly reasonable to accept that human can effect climate.... but there is no need to abandon basic scientific principles when debating the nuances of this scenario(s). Even the title is bloated... the "truth" !? like there are "lies" !?...... well of course the Alarmists would paint anyone skeptical of the alarmism as "liars" , "deniers" etc etc and then some uneducated person posts "what oil company do you work for" etc etc .... but both polarised sides of the debate can cherry pick until their heart content but it does not change two huge facts. 1. The 90s climate models were all hugely wrong. and 2. We know pretty much nothing when it comes to being able to produce an entire global climate model. So a fascinating science that is serving to further our knowledge and obviously help us on so many levels could do without this patronising rubbish. So I would recommend this for pseudo-scientific-climate-warrior-types only.... anyone with a tight science background will not enjoy it.
