I bought this for my nephew to keep him interested in his DS. He has an X-Box 360 and plays a variety of action games on that machine. I wanted to remind him that there are plenty of fun and exciting games available on the DS; with the added bonus of the unique control system and the novelty of portable fun over being tied to a TV in the lounge.
Ninja Gaiden: Dragon Sword takes his love for action games and applies highly impressive graphics and speed onto the little DS screens. When playing this game, you hold the DS on its side like a book, exactly like Dr. Kawashina's Brain Training, and like that game, everything is controlled using the stylus.
The proof is in the pudding, as they say... before us sat a new slim 360 with a stack of games; Alien vs. Predator, Gears of War 2 etc... but he continued to play Ninja Gaiden on the DS.
I think for the money Amazon are asking on this game (£4.99 at the time of writing), you will get a good amount of value for money, and time out of this game. It's vibrant, quick, exhilirating and rather relentless. Anybody who'se played anything from 'The Last Ninja', 'Shadow Warriors', 'Ninja Warriors', even 'Final Fight' will have a rough idea of what to expect here. The fact that the stylus controls the action so well, and makes it so fluid is what really sells this particular game on the DS. Give it a go, there's very little to lose and quite a lot to like.
And the graphics are gorgeous.
