Might as well label it a White Stripes album...
on 26 March 2008
14 songs and most of them sung by Jack White. Clearly this is now his show. Brendan's songs - which gave their first album real texture and diversity - are sorely missing here, and his lack of lead vocals are just not enough. The sense of this band being a collaboration is now greatly reduced. You might as well just label it a White Stripes record.
I'd also agree with comments made here about some of the tracks sounding like B-sides. Why this record couldn't have been trimmed back I don't know. Again, their debut benefited greatly from being so succinct - but song after song of Jack's high pitched vocals and endless squealing guitars, it all gets a little tired.
Overall, I'm a little disappointed.
